Bluegiga WT11 Class 1 Bluetooth module has been significantly improved with a new power amplifier design which increases transmit power from +12dBm to +17dBm and improves receive sensitivity from -83dBm to -85dBm. The new design will significantly improve range and data throughput over longer distances. The new product code for the enhanced product is WT11i and will replace the WT11 in Bluegiga’s module line up. All WT11 users are required to make to transition to WT11i.
To ease transition from the WT11 to the WT11i, Bluegiga has made the WT11i pin for pin compatible with the WT11. The WT11i also comes with Bluegiga’s iWRAP Bluetooth stack or HCI firmware offering seamless compatibility with existing embedded applications. The WT11i is Bluetooth, CE, FCC and IC qualified and operates over industrial temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.
“Our goal is to provide the best Bluetooth module products in the industry and we saw an opportunity to improve on our already reliable WT11 design with no impact on size, cost, or software compatibility. These performance enhancements will benefit all customer applications and has resulted in our decision to transition our production over to WT11i during Q1, 2012.
